MORSELAB consists of the following individuals:


George Nenes, Professor, Director of the Laboratory

George Nenes was born in 1978 in Athens. He is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Western Macedonia, Greece, while he is a research associate in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has obtained a Diploma (five-year degree) in Mechanical Engineering, an M.Sc. in Management of Production Systems and a Ph.D. in Statistical Quality Control from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has worked as a Post Doc researcher in Erasmus University of Rotterdam and as a visiting lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Western Macedonia, the Department of Production and Management Engineering at the Democritus University of Thrace, the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Thessaly and others. He has also taught in an undergraduate level at the external programme of Middlesex University, as well as at the MBA from the external programme of the University of London (DEI Bachelor and Master Degrees). His work has been published in a variety of journals, including European Journal of Operational Research, IIE Transactions and International Journal of Production Economics. His main research interests are in the area of Statistical Quality Control and Supply Chain Management.


Konstantinos Tasias, Assistant Professor

Konstantinos Tasias was born in 1985 in Katerini. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Western Macedonia, Greece. He is an Aeronautical Engineer while he also holds a degree in Business Administration. Moreover, he has a Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering and Operation Management and holds a PhD from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Western Macedonia. His main research interests are in the area of Statistical Quality Control, Reliability, and Maintenance. Kostas was awarded in 2015 as the best young statistician by the Hellenic Statistical Institute.

Paraskevi Kapetanopoulou, Assistant Professor

Paraskevi Kapetanopoulou was born in 1971 in Florina. She is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Western Macedonia, Greece, while she is a research associate at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She has obtained a Diploma (five-year degree) in Mechanical Engineering, an M.Sc. in Management of Production Systems and a Ph.D. in Operation and Management of Reverse Supply Chains from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She has worked as a Post Doc researcher in INSEAD, France, as a visiting Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and as a visiting lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Western Macedonia. At postgraduate level she has taught at the Polytechnic School of the University of Thessaly, at the Hellenic Open University the module “Advanced Tools and Methods for Quality Control” while for a number of years she was coordinator of the Master’s Degree Programme “Management, Technology and Quality” at the Open University of Cyprus. Her work has been published in a variety of journals, including International Journal of Operations and Production Management and Flexible Services and Manufacturing Journal. Her main research interests are in the area of Statistics, Statistical Quality Control and Supply Chain Management.


Dimitrios Kampitsis, MSc, PhD Candidate

Dimitrios Kampitsis was born in 1990 in Thessaloniki and he is an Aeronautical Engineer of the Hellenic Air Force. He holds an M.Sc. in Production Management and Industrial Administration from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Thessaly. He is currently a PhD candidate at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Western Macedonia and a quality assurance officer as a Lieutenant in the Hellenic Air Force. He has served in two different Fighters Squadrons (RF-4E Phantom, F-16) in Larissa as a maintenance officer and as a quality control engineer in field level maintenance operations. His main research interests are in the broad areas of Maintenance and Statistical Quality Control.


George Krommydas, PhD Candidate

George Krommydas was born in 1994 in Kastoria. He holds a Diploma (integrated master) in Mechanical Engineering from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Western Macedonia (UoWM). He is currently a PhD candidate at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Western Macedonia. His main research interests are in the broad areas of Maintenance and Statistical Quality Control.


Panagiotis Kolonelos, MSc

Panagiotis Kolonelos was born in 1993 in Agrinio. He holds a Diploma (five-year degree) in Mechanical Engineering from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Western Macedonia (UoWM). He also holds an MSc in “Energy Technologies and Management” from the same Department. He is scientific collaborator at the division of Industrial Management in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the UoWM. His main research interests are in the area of Statistical Quality Control and Inventory Management.


Konstantina Tsiota, MSc

Konstantina Tsiota was born in 1994 in Thessaloniki, and grew up in Florina, Greece. She holds a Diploma in Chemical Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a ΜSc in Quality Management and Technology from the Hellenic Open University. Additionally, she is a certified ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949 auditor, with hands-on experience in quality control, quality management systems implementation, and auditing. Previously, Konstantina worked as a quality engineer in the automotive industry. Currently, she is employed in the quality assurance division of a private company in the chemicals and minerals industry, where she leads continuous improvement projects and maintains quality assurance accreditations. Her primary research interests lie in the areas of statistical quality control and total quality management.
